Welcome to the Local Options Oversight Committee (LOOC) Website

What is LOOC?

The Local Options Oversight Committee (LOOC) is a collaborative group of representatives from Associated Administrators of Los Angeles (AALA), Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), and United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA), created through the Local School Stabilization and Empowerment Initiative (LSSEI) of 2011.

What is the Purpose of LOOC?:

LOOC serves as a liaison between the unions, district, community-based organizations, schools and communities. It is charged with supporting schools, seeking to increase decision-making authority to advance student learning and improve student achievement.

How Does LOOC Support School Choice?

LOOC provides training and professional development for schools interested in adopting one of the three autonomous school models: Expanded School Based Management (ESBMM), Local Initiative Schools (LIS), and Pilot Models. LOOC also provides professional development for current autonomous schools.
